Can I have flea problems during winter?

One of the common questions we receive this time of year is,     " do my animals need flea /tick prevention during the winter?"

The answer is an absolute yes! As you can see in the diagram, much of the flea life cycle occurs in the pet's environment. Many fleas will hitchhike into our homes; use our pet's blood for food,  then lay 50 to 100 eggs per day in the house! These eggs can mature to adults in as little as sixteen days. Without preventative measures, flea populations can multiply exponentially, inside, during the coldest months of the year. We recommend adult killing flea treatments (comfortis, Bravecto, nexgard, trifexis) year round. Monthly prevention will save you and your pets a lot of trouble this winter! An ounce of prevention is certainly worth a pound of cure when it comes to fleas! Will your home and pets be protected this winter?
